'æ' (now a&e) is a musical outfit consisting of Andrew Sharpley on electronics (Stock, Hausen & Walkman, Dummy Run, Mami Chan band a.o.) and Emiko Ota on drums and percussion (Urban Sax, Mami Chan Band, etc.). Formed in 1998, the group started as a kind of trash electro-punk duo with shouting. The addition of Noel Akchoté the next year found them forcing themselves to clean their act up a bit and attempt more traditional song structures. After this, æ hopped onto the musical elevator again. 'Bootleg', their upcoming album on sonig, is a mixture of laptop based rythmic cut ups, shouty punk collages and a return to the sweeter more melodic stuff. Don't miss it!
