D

d are cologne electronica irregularities f.x.randomiz (holosud) and jan st.werner (mouse on mars, microstoria, lithops). they first gained attention with their cd debut "slow" which the wire magazin praised as "an unsung electronic masterpiece, an outstanding pre-oval example of capsized sampling virtuosity". "slow" has become something of a holy grail to acolytes of cologne's often hard-to-follow creative metastases. after werner got very busy with mouse on mars and microstoria and randomiz with his sideproject holosud as well as numerous dsp programming projects it took some time until they got to work together again. " t.s.m.e.h.k.m.i.s.m.k.h.e.m." is an unusual remix project: werner produced a cd-r with various tracks of sounds and noises he recorded and edited without using any digital tools. he called this selection "16 times easily produced complicated music". randomiz digitalised and arranged these sounds and returned them to werner one year later. he called his edits "transformation of 16 times easily produced complicated music into 7 times complicatedly produced easy music". one of these edits found its way on the sonig compilation "comp." in 2000. now, two years after "comp." and ten years after "slow" the six tracks of " t.s.m.e.h.k.m.i.s.m.k.h.e.m." are available as d's debut 7" album. (in japan on cd single. few copies available in the sonig shop)
